Network Access Services
Whether you call it IP Transit, Internet Access or Global Network Access, one thing is certain: Grow Smart has made it easier than ever to move your bits to and from the commodity Internet, and still manage costs.
In FY2009 current members will pay the same amount for Network Access as in FY2008. New members will be charged based on FY2008 billing for comparable member institutions. For more information, please go to http://www.wiscnet.net/growsmart
Network Access include the following:
- Direct Access to 6 Internet Services Providers (yes, 6 times better access to the internet)
- Direct Access 50 national peer networks
- Use of Internet 2 (for all education and library members)
- Point-to-Point Connects to UW Campuses
- High Speed Access to Wisconsin Technical College System
- Direct Access to 360 Schools Districts - (talk to them, work with them)
- Direct Access to 15 Library Systems (including their online material)
- Direct Access to Online Content from the UW, WTCS, K-12 Schools, Wisconsin Government, etc
Startup charges include engineering and equipment charges. Telephone Companies (Telcos) which provide data-transmission circuits may also bill you for the cost of dispatching technicians.
Ongoing charges generally fall into the following categories:
- Circuit fees paid to the provider, such as a Telephone Company, TEACH Wisconsin or Badgernet; also referred to as “transport” fees.
- Bandwidth or data flow charges; also referred to as the “transit” fees.
