Internet 2
WiscNet is connecting Wisconsin schools to a nationwide initiative where schools from kindergarten through college can help shape and develop Internet2, the next generation internet. WiscNet members automatically gain access to Internet2 and use it to access other Internet2 education and research institutions. Internet2 provides consistent and fast end to end connection times, features particularly important for video and other media rich education and research applications and is only available through WiscNet.
The Internet2 K20 Initiative is an effort to extend the Internet2 Initiative to a broader education community of:
* Internet2 member institutions
* Primary and secondary schools
* Colleges and universities
* Libraries
* Museums
to get new technologies—advanced networking tools, applications, middleware, and content—into the hands of innovators, across all educational sectors in the United States, as quickly and as “connectedly” as possible.
